Tanren is body conditioning or body forging. It is designed to harden the body for any blows that may be received in real combat. Once again, it is for the personal preference of each person and any training in this aspect is built up over many years of practice. Equipment such as wooden dummy’s and stones can also be used by more advanced practitioners.
